Reaction shots - Clues in the name.

Insert Shots - Actions shot , A close up of someone turning a door or picking up an apple.

Ellipses - Narrative device and also the most basic idea of film editing. Ellipses has to do with the omission of a section of the story that is either obvious enough for the public to fill in (their heads) or concealed for a narrative purpose, such as suspense or mystery.

A good example of Slow Motion shots in combination with parallel editing, As well as Reaction shots is the forest fight scene from "the last samurai" 2001.  The slow motion gives a sense of upcoming, impending and unpreventable doom as the Samurai charge the Imperial Japanese military. The parallel editing shows us the reaction shot of the military soldiers. Their fearful and dreadful expressions further enhance this sense of impending doom the audience feels for the soldiers. The drama and tension is later relieved as it cuts to one shot with both sides coming together in real time, as the imperial army is being slaughtered.
