Notes on Cinema Studies textbook.
I find that this chapter aims to show how documentaries has served as a way to help people. Whether that be a people that had been oppressed in the past such as Coloured people, woman and the homosexual communities, or aspiring film makers short on financial resources after WW2 from Europe as well as the United States. It also shows how Bolshevik and Communists in past have used film and documentaries to capture everyday life of impoverished communities of manual labourers as well as the lengths some of these early film makers went to in order to not only shoot their documentaries, but also to present them, even going to the lengths of riding across the Soviet Union in a train to shoot and project the lives of everyday workers.
